My Staple Green Smoothie Recipe

I started making this green smoothie recipe years ago when I had my wisdom teeth removed and was stuck on liquids. I’m pretty sure I made it multiple times a day for a solid week. Even now, it still amazes me how not-green it tastes.

People tend to be wary of green smoothie recipes, but here’s the secret: if you use spinach, you won’t taste it at all. In fact, it makes the smoothie even creamier. I also like to toss in a few leaves of dino kale—it’s optional, but it adds an extra nutrient boost alongside the spinach.

Key Ingredients & Why They Matter

Pure Synergy – The first green powder I ever bought—16 years ago—and still my go-to. After years in the natural food industry, I’ve tested countless green powders, but I always come back to this one. I can’t stand the newer formulas loaded with additives for taste. This one is clean, simple, and blends seamlessly into any smoothie.

Brazil Nuts – I’ve dealt with thyroid issues since I was 15, and after my transplant, they only got worse. Brazil nuts are one of the best natural sources of selenium, a trace mineral essential for thyroid function. I sneak them in whenever I can—just 1-2 nuts a day covers your selenium needs.

Flax Seeds – If you stick around long enough, you’ll see I throw these into almost every smoothie I make. I’m a firm believer in getting Omega-3s through both food and supplementation, and flax seeds are an easy way to do just that.

Pink Himalayan Salt – A must-have, especially during my treatment days. Pink Himalayan salt replenishes electrolytes and provides key minerals that support hydration, nerve function, and muscle contractions.

Everyday Green Smoothie

Even though I own just about every high-speed blender out there, I find myself reaching for my Beast Blender the most when making single-serve smoothies. It’s easily one of the most-used items in my kitchen—which is wild, considering how much I’ve spent on other tools!

Ingredients:

  • 1 C Milk (I use homemade almond in this)

  • 1 handful spinach

  • 1-2 leaves of dino kale

  • 1 frozen banana

  • .5 C water

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (a grass fed whey will make it more milkshake-like, a plant-based will take on it’s own flavor)

  • 2-3 brazil nuts

  • 1T flax seeds (can adjust qty)

  • 1 t pure synergy

  • pinch of pink salt

  • handful ice

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients (except ice) until smooth.

  2. Add a couple of handfuls of ice and blend again until creamy.

  3. Optional: top with additional nuts and seeds

Serve immediately and enjoy!
